The TRIO Student Support Service Program (SSS) is an academic support program funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The goals of the program are to increase retention and graduation rates and to facilitate the participant’s transition from one level of higher education to the next.
SSS will provide services as needed by the student in the areas of academic, financial, or personal advising; tutoring; instruction in basic study skills; assistance in securing admission and financial aid for enrollment in four-year institutions; and information about career development. SSS also offers an opportunity to participate in informational workshops, campus tours, academic/cultural events and activities.
The SSS Program serves all students regardless of Race, Religion, Color, Sex, National Origin, Age, or Handicap.
1. Is a citizen or national of the United States or meets the residency requirements for Federal student financial assistance.
2. Is enrolled or is accepted for enrollment at Cankdeska Cikana Community College for the next academic year.
3. Has a need for academic support. The need for academic support will be based on compass test scores, personal factors, academic history, and non-traditional student status.
4. Is: a low income individual, as determined by federal guidelines established by the Department of Education; a first generation college student (either parent did not graduate from college with a bachelors degree); an individual with disabilities.
