Head Start Before & After Care Positions

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work hours will be 7:30-9:00am and 3:00-4:30pm Monday through Friday.
  • Expect to work full days (8:00am-4:30pm) during professional development staff trainings and parent teacher conferences.
  • Actively monitor and supervise children keeping them safe.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds.
  • Greet children and families when they arrive.
  • Provide positive support for children at all times.
  • Ensure facilities are safe for the children.
  • Maintain classroom environment.
  • Provide knowledge of the Dakota culture through stories and other hands-on cultural materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Preference given to Spirit Lake Tribal Elders.
  • Experience in caring for children.
  • First Aid CPR certification, or willing to pursue and maintain within thirty days of employment.
  • Complete Mantoux Tuberculosis testing (TB) verifying approval to provide childcare prior to starting employment.
  • Complete a current health physical within thirty days of employment.
